Folk Tales About Famous Traditional Chinese Medicine Prescriptions

"Aconite is poisonous! The mother is already in this state. Wouldn't giving her poison make things even worse?" An elderly man with some medical knowledge also urged him, "Doctor Shen, shouldn't we use hemostatic herbs like agrimony and notoginseng instead? Aconite is too potent. Something could go wrong." Shen Jingzhi shook his head. "The mother's breath is now as faint as a wisp, like a flame about to go out. We need a roaring fire to keep it burning. Ginseng replenishes the postnatal qi of the spleen and lungs, while aconite restores the prenatal yang in the kidneys. Only when used together can the two herbs transform qi in an instant and kindle yang in moments. That is the essence of the Shenfu Decoction, and her only chance of survival."
