(Actually, this novel is written for older kids.) (It has everyday moments and fights. Despite the monsters in the title, it's mostly about battles.)
In a parallel universe, in the year 3112 by Earth's calendar, technology has advanced tremendously. Then one day, a meteorite crashes into Kyoto. The enormous meteorite prompts the government to dispatch a research team to investigate. Their tests reveal signs of life inside. Just as they prepare to transport it, the meteorite suddenly cracks open, and a gigantic monster emerges, plunging the city into a grave crisis. A young man helps an elderly person escape danger, then transforms into a giant in a nearby location to fight the monster. He makes many friends and quietly protects Earth, the place that has become his second home.
