It tells the story of Zhuge Deng, a time-travel cultivator who has been practicing for three thousand years. When he is about to ascend and return home, he accidentally travels into a Cthulhu-style horror game called "Whispers of the Abyss" and firmly believes that this is a reasonable trial before returning home. Facing the deep divers in R'lyeh, the madhouse in Arkham, and the ancient existences in Dreamland, instead of being afraid, he began to "educate" the world in the way of a cultivator: teaching the "Tao Te Ching" to the deep divers, tutoring the King in Yellow, educating bullies with golden sticks, and even transforming the entire game world into a large-scale immortal cultivation classroom. As the plot develops, Zhugedeng gradually discovers that this "trial" is far from simple. In the process of leading the disciples (players) he considered, converting monsters, and creating the Wizard of Clouds, he gradually comes into contact with the truth of the world - he may be the game developer who disappeared twenty years ago, and behind all this, there is an amazing secret about creation and belonging, reality and illusion.
