Wang Xiaofan (first protagonist, cultivates the Divine Dao)
Background: An orphan from a border town in the Great Xia Dynasty. His parents were killed by demonic cultivators while protecting the town’s spiritual leyline. As a child, he happened upon the ancient divine artifact, the “Heaven and Earth Cauldron” (which can refine spiritual energy and gather faith).
Personality: Gentle on the outside but strong-willed within, loyal, and somewhat scheming. He refuses to follow convention and is initially patient and reserved, but gradually reveals a natural leadership presence. He believes that “the Divine Dao is not heartless; it exists to uphold order.”
Su Mu (second protagonist, cultivates the Demonic Dao)
Background: Young lord of the Burning Heaven Cult. His mother was a demonic saintess hunted by the righteous sects. After witnessing her tragic death as a child, he came to despise the righteous path. The “Primordial Demon Blood” awakened within him (the nemesis of the World-Devouring Clan).
Personality: Cold, obsessive, and ruthless, yet guided by principles (he does not kill the innocent). Under Wang Xiaofan’s influence, he gradually comes to understand that “the Demonic Dao is not evil; it destroys what has grown rotten.”
Yue Lingling (third protagonist, the first protagonist’s cultivation partner, cultivates the Immortal Dao)
Background: Saintess of the Azure Cloud Sect, of mixed spiritfolk and human ancestry. She possesses a “Nature Spirit Root” (which lets her commune with heaven and earth and heal all things) and is the key inheritor of the ancient spiritfolk tasked with guarding a seal.
Personality: Gentle, resilient, perceptive, and cheerful. At first she strictly follows the orthodox doctrines, but later recognizes the prejudice between factions and becomes a bridge to reconciliation between the righteous and demonic paths.
