The War against Japanese Pirates during the Wanli Period is a story that took place during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty. The Ming Dynasty army assisted North Korea in fighting against the Japanese invasion. The protagonists are Shen Lian, a master of the Imperial Guard in the Ming Dynasty, and Li Zhenxi, a heroine from the North Korean non-governmental organization "White Wing Society". The two went from distrusting each other to fighting side by side. Not only did they have to face brutal sieges and street battles, they also had to uncover the traitors hidden within their own side and prevent third-party forces (Jurchens) from reaping the benefits. The story focuses on the espionage and conspiracy behind the battlefield, showing the choices, loyalty and sacrifices of small people in troubled times.
