The amber liquid of whiskey sloshed in the glass. Lu Zeyan loosened his tie with one hand and leaned casually on the back of the leather chair.
Gu Qian placed the sobering soup on the corner of the table, her movements gentle as if she was afraid of disturbing someone.
"Signed." Lu Zeyan pushed a document over without raising his head, with a drunken laziness and matter-of-fact tone, "The project on the land in the south of the city requires you to socialize as Mrs. Lu."
Gu Qian did not take over the writing. She stood in the shadows, her voice as calm as a pool of stagnant water:
"Lu Zeyan, our three-year contract expired at twelve o'clock last night."
