I'm trying a different approach with this new book. I hope everyone enjoys it.
The smell of disinfectant was sharp yet familiar, like a rusty key suddenly prying open Lin Yuan's foggy consciousness.
His eyelids felt as heavy as a thousand-pound slab of iron. He struggled to open them a crack and saw a stark white ceiling, with an IV bag hanging overhead, dripping steadily. The clear liquid trickled through the tube and into a vein in the back of his hand, sending a faint chill through him.
“Cough...”
His throat was as dry as if scorched by fire. A light cough sent a dull ache through his chest. Lin Yuan instinctively raised a hand to his chest, but his fingertips met only the thin fabric of a hospital gown, not the North Sea Immortal Robe he'd worn for three thousand years, stained with immortal blood and demonic energy.
This was neither his immortal palace nor the chaos battlefield where he had fallen at the hands of the Immortal Emperor Haotian.
“Yuan'er! You're awake?!”
A woman's voice rang out, choked with tears. A gaunt figure hurried to the bedside, eyes bloodshot with joy and lingering fear. The woman reached out to touch Lin Yuan's forehead. Her fingertips were rough but warm, calloused from years of hard work.
“Thank goodness, you're finally awake! The doctor said you only fainted from low blood sugar, but you scared your mother half to death...”
Mother?
Lin Yuan's pupils contracted, and his gaze focused on the woman's face.
This is the first time I read such an enjoyable novel. One chapter only lasts ten minutes. It's good news for readers 🤭
