I'm Jiang Ziya, and I'm Bringing Investiture of the Gods to Japan's Warring States Period

Jiang Shang, a postgraduate student in history, was tearing his hair out over his thesis when he was struck by the Investiture of the Gods System and dropped into Japan's Warring States period!

His mission was absurd: help the famous "Old Tortoise," Tokugawa Ieyasu, unify the land, while also conducting KPI assessments for Japan's eight million gods and granting them new divine titles.

Looking at the apparently counterfeit Demon-Slaying Whip in his hand (no matter how he swung it, it felt more like a back scratcher) and the bewildered little Takechiyo before him, Jiang Shang wondered if this System had something seriously wrong with it.

But then Oda Nobunaga's back blazed with demonic flames, Takeda cavalry truly swept forth like the "Wind, Forest, Fire, and Mountain," and Uesugi Kenshin cleaved the air with a manifestation of Bishamonten...

Jiang Shang silently pulled out his little notebook (the Investiture of the Gods) and his back scratcher (the Demon-Slaying Whip):

"Don't worry, Lord Ieyasu. We've got a System. Let's capture that SSR monster over there and make him the Delivery God. He can ship the enemy's provisions straight to us!"

"What? Toyotomi Hideyoshi has the fortune of a nine-tailed fox backing him? No problem. I'll slap him with a 'No Transformations' debuff!"

"Sanada Yukimura, you say your battle spirit will never die? Come work for me. I'll guarantee you a position as an 'Eternal Martial God'!"

And so, the Warring States period took an increasingly bizarre turn. When Tokugawa Ieyasu ascended the throne in Edo and held the grand ceremony to invest the gods, Jiang Shang looked at the gods filling the sky (all appointed by him) and wiped his sweat.

"My thesis... should pass now, right?"
