[Historical fantasy] + [Eastern fantasy] + [steampunk] + [dark] + [ensemble cast]
In Dayin, the strange feudal system of “martial sects governing the prefectures, clans administering the counties” is on the verge of collapse. The roar of Western steam engines and the cannons of Japanese raiders crash through its gates at the same time.
A doctor of humble origins with a foul mouth witnesses the deepest darkness in the world. He once hoped to save one person with his medical skills, but was ultimately swept up in the tides of history, taking hold of the “Golden-Inlaid Blade” that could unleash a storm of bloodshed.
He distributes leaflets, gives land to the peasants, and smashes the chains of the old world. Leading countless poor farmers, he spends forty years driving out foreign invaders, overthrowing the sects, and founding the “Great Harmony Republic” of his dreams.
He becomes the alliance leader, only to discover that the new world he built with his own hands is sliding toward another abyss: his comrades are obsessed with the “might of machinery” and indifferent to the people’s suffering, while the curse in a thousand-year-old prophecy map foretells that history’s cycle cannot be broken.
And so the man who once founded the republic makes one final, earth-shattering decision: to launch a last charge against the very order he built with his own hands.
