Modern mechanical engineer {Chen Mingxia} accidentally traveled to the Hanyang Iron Works in 1889 while repairing a steam locomotive in the late Qing Dynasty. Faced with the dilemma of low steelmaking efficiency in iron plants, he relied on his advanced mechanical knowledge to break the situation, assisted Zhang Zhidong in establishing the "Steam Bureau", and developed core equipment such as steam battleships and locomotives, trying to inject new vitality into the Westernization Movement. However, overt and covert attacks by conservatives, technological blockades by major powers, and spy infiltration followed one after another. On the eve of the Sino-Japanese War of 1884-1894, the mass production plan of steam battleships was blocked and the Beiyang Navy suffered a disastrous defeat. Chen Mingxia, who has no way to serve the country, lives in seclusion in the south of the Yangtze River with core technical drawings, waiting for the dawn of industrial salvation.
