Until I was patching up the heart of a female corpse from the Republic of China, she said in my ear: "You have patched up so many cracks, but haven't you discovered that you are the biggest crack?"
From that day on, I had pinch marks on my wrists, and a 72-hour countdown to death began in my mind.
The "gaps" in the entire old street are alive:
Corpses of women in cheongsam crawl out of the picture frame every night, dolls in tailor shops put on shrouds, and teahouses sing Republic of China operas that I don't understand.
And deep in all the cracks, my name is shouted.
I just remembered - I was the first one to crawl out of the crack in the fire five years ago.
