When “feng shui killings” and “vengeful spirits claiming lives” appeared in a criminal investigation report, the entire police force fell silent.
As the sole heir to a feng shui family with a thousand-year history, Shen Mo only wanted to live an ordinary life. That is, until a baffling case involving a dead man wearing an eerie smile and a compass spinning on its own at the scene brought a special task force to his door with an official order.
And so the criminal investigation division gained a special consultant.
At a crime scene, he was a walking lie detector, seeing straight through the truth the culprit tried to hide. During a search, he had the special police follow his compass, and every dig hit the mark. And his case reports left veteran detectives questioning their sanity: “The third basis for closing the case... the suspect’s ancestral grave had a nail driven into it to doom his bloodline?”
When a serial killer with a ten-million-yuan bounty vanished from surveillance footage, Shen Mo lit a stick of incense in the interrogation room. “Tell me, which clause in the contract for pawning your soul says it would help you kill people?”
Later, a classified section was added to the state’s secret archives. Its cover read: [Environmental and Cultural Security Studies: Field Manual, by Shen Mo]
At the latest crime scene, a young officer asked with a tremble in his voice, “Consultant Shen, should we set up the altar first this time?”
