Night cloaks the world in ink, and demons prowl in the shadows.
Kindhearted charcoal seller Tanjiro Kamado had lived a poor but warm life with his family in the mountains. But when he returned home one day, he witnessed a massacre at the hands of demons. His entire family had been killed, and his only surviving sister, Nezuko, had become a demon.
At the edge of despair, he met Rinka Tsukishima, a wandering girl who had also lost everything and walked alone through the world. She clutched a spiral-patterned seashell that held pain much like his own.
From then on, their paths became intertwined.
Following the guidance left by the Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka, Tanjiro shouldered the bamboo basket containing his sister, while Rinka, gripping a stone axe with determination in her eyes, traveled by his side on the perilous road to Mount Sagiri. He had a keen sense of smell that let him discern scents, while she could hear the hidden whispers carried by wind and water. As they journeyed together, two wounded souls built a trust that needed no words.
Under the stern yet wise instruction of their trainer, Sakonji Urokodaki, the two underwent training that pushed them beyond their limits, mastering Water Breathing and Ripple Breathing, techniques that synchronized with their breath to slay demons and banish evil.
And on Mount Fujikasane, the trial ground for qualifying as a Demon Slayer Corps swordsman, where countless lives had been devoured, demons of all shapes and sizes lurked in the dark, savage and cunning. Tanjiro's determination to protect Nezuko and Rinka's burning desire to avenge her family would meet here, their blades flashing to tear through the long night.
There is no end to the path of becoming stronger.
The schemes of Lower Rank demons, the crushing devastation brought by the Twelve Kizuki, and clashes of conviction within the Demon Slayer Corps keep coming.
