Espionage: My Brain Is Worth 100,000 Silver Dollars

They say my head is worth a hundred thousand silver dollars.

But I bow and scrape for the Japanese, playing the greediest, lecherous traitor in the land.

By day, I cook the books for the Japanese and chase after widows, so scared I can barely hold a gun.

By night, Japanese military secrets piece themselves together in my mind, turning into intelligence delivered straight to Dai Li’s desk.

Until the day I’m named the number one mole, and both the Japanese and the Juntong offer a fortune for me:

One wants me dead, the other wants me alive.

I smile and set the archive room on fire.

“A hundred thousand silver dollars?”

“I bought back my own life long ago.”
