Ding! The Romance System is now bound. Matching a mission world. Pursue… bzzzt… pursue…
The moment I saw him, I knew he was my target. I tutored him, shielded him from bullies, and protected him. He grew more and more clingy, and the eerie sobbing at night always stopped the moment we drew near. I thought this was a sign my mission was succeeding.
Until a group of elites calling themselves “players” barged in and pointed their items at the boy behind me. Their voices trembled with fear. “Get away from him! He's the most terrifying ultimate rule in this S-rank instance!”
I turned around in confusion, only to see my “target” clutching the hem of my clothes, his face buried against my shoulder as he murmured, “Xingxing, they're so noisy.”
The next second, he lifted his eyes to look at the players standing ready for battle. The pitiful, helpless expression vanished, leaving only an inhuman, languid indifference.
Meanwhile, the System's alarm in my head shrieked almost desperately:
[Warning! Target's energy level is immeasurable! The anchor point is failing!]
[Mission correction… static… Primary objective: survive until It fully awakens!]
Only then did I understand. There was no mission to win him over.
I had clearly stumbled into a sweet trap meant as an offering to an evil god.
Now the hunter is pressed close to my ear, asking softly in the most adoring voice:
“Xingxing, you'll leave me behind… right?”
I don't quite understand what Chapter 4 of this book means. The end of Chapter 3 is "I saw it", but Chapter 5 continues with "I saw it". Was there a mistake in Chapter 4?
