In 999, the 41st Millennium, Chaos Warmaster and Great Despoiler Ezekiel Abaddon launched his Thirteenth Dark Crusade. Cadia, the fortress of mankind that had resisted countless enemies in the Eye of Terror for thousands of years, was completely destroyed.
With the destruction of Cadia, a great rift opened across the galaxy, and the entire northern galaxy lost contact with the Empire.
But there is hope. Robert Guilliman, the son of the Emperor and the Primarch of the Ultramarines, ended his slumber of ten thousand years and returned to the Empire. Under his leadership, mankind launched the Indomitable Crusade and began to revenge against the enemies of mankind.
The Korel Sector, once the pearl of the Empire's frontier, was one of the few unoccupied sectors on the dark side of the Empire. Its guardian, Reinhard von Drius, left the Indomitable Crusade and returned to the sector under the orders of the Primarch.
He received an almost impossible order from the Primarch to purify Korel and serve as a future counterattack against the dark side of the Empire.
