Shattered Jade, Frost in My Heart

During the Jiajing reign of the Ming dynasty, Peng Huai, Minister of Works, sent his only daughter, Peng Yu, to the palace to be considered as a concubine, hoping to protect his family. Peng Yu had secretly pledged herself to Lin Yan, a poor scholar and her childhood sweetheart, but was forced to enter the palace as one of Emperor Jiajing's consorts. In the depths of the imperial palace, her intelligence and unassuming nature unexpectedly won the emperor's favor, making her the center of the harem's power struggles. Caught between power, family, and an old love, Peng Yu had to tread carefully at every turn. When she finally had the chance to escape the palace walls and elope with Lin Yan, she discovered that her father, Peng Huai, had become embroiled in a major political upheaval, leaving the entire family on the brink of ruin. Peng Yu had to choose between love and family, and whichever path she took would leave a wound in her heart that could never heal.
