The Universe Save Point
Synopsis
For 13.8 billion years, humanity believed itself to be the protagonist of the universe.
We measured galaxies, questioned our origins, and took pride in every scientific breakthrough.
In 2078, a gravitational-wave signal lasting 0.7 seconds shattered that illusion:
“HELLO FROM OUTSIDE”
Player ID: Observer-7
Server: Earth-Prime
Current players online: 0
The truth was brutal:
The Big Bang was just the server launch. The KBC supervoid was a buffer zone cleared by a player to save power, and the laws of physics were sliders he had dragged around at random during the tutorial.
Our universe was nothing more than an “Ultra-Minimalist Survival Challenge” started by an ordinary wage slave called “Old Seven” back in college.
He graduated, got a job, married, had a child, and long ago forgot about this save file he had left running for 13.8 billion years.
Until humanity sounded the alarm with gravitational waves and woke him from his ordinary life.
In that moment, we had effectively awakened the sleeping “God”: a weary wage slave, smelling of takeout and his child’s cries, rubbing his eyes as he logged into the game.
He gave humanity two choices:
A. Keep playing in private-server mode, stay safe and do nothing. He would log in from time to time to make sure other players didn’t discover us.
B. Switch to competitive mode: fill in the voids, loosen the speed of light, and give us wormholes. Humanity could reach the stars in a short time, but the server would be added to the public leaderboard, opening its doors to every hardcore grinder.
Humanity chose B.
The fishbowl shattered.
Finally read a grand science fiction novel 😄👍👍 It's great! The entire universe is a game, and our galaxy is just a server that has been hung up 👍 👍 What kind of magical imagination is this [Shocked] [Shocked] [Shocked]
