The Venerable One of the Mortal Realm

With the Three Realms cut off from one another, Heaven's Gate shut and the underworld closed, the human world at the end of the Yuan dynasty became a crucible overrun by demons and ghosts.

At the Shangqing Palace on Mount Qingcheng, Fei Dahai awoke from a thousand-year slumber. He was the guardian of the human world's sacred flame, left behind by his master Zhang Daoling. In the chaotic age, all he had was a faded blue Daoist robe and a peachwood sword crafted by his master, yet he became the world's sole Daoist Venerable.

He saw the Yellow River burst its banks, leaving corpses scattered across the land; he saw the Red Turbans rise in revolt as flames of war spread everywhere. He also witnessed the White Lotus Sect refine living souls with dark magic, while vengeful ghosts from the underworld slipped through the cracks to wreak havoc on the mortal world.

The Supreme Purity Art rose, golden light shattered evil, and the peachwood sword fell, slaying every demon and ghost.

Beneath his twenty-year-old body lay a thousand years of weariness. With the arts of Mount Qingcheng, he set the world of the late Yuan dynasty to rights. So what if the Three Realms were cut off from one another? He stood firm in the human world, slaying evil, subduing the underworld, and protecting the people, shouldering the full weight of the title “Daoist Venerable” amid the crucible of chaos.
