Reborn as a Sketch Comedy King: Playing an Old Lady from the Start

Reborn as an apprentice at a struggling theater, I discover that this world has no sketch comedy.

My name is Zhao Dabao. After being reborn, I inherited the stage performance skills of Benshan and Chen Xiaoer.

With classic works from my past life, I lead this little troupe on the verge of bankruptcy to fame across the country.

Works like “The Lead and the Supporting Actor,” “Selling Crutches,” and “Eating Noodles” are a whole new level of entertainment for this world.

Armed with these works, I cut through every obstacle, taking on one small theater after another until I reach the Spring Festival Gala.

I don't just want to become the King of Comedy. I want to build a true comedy empire.

Debiao, Xiaosunyang, Dandan: they're all my people. Together, we'll take comedy to new heights.

The audience doesn't love me as an idol. They respect the great works.

We conquer the market not through a monopoly of capital,

but by laying the foundation with our work.

Performing what the audience loves: that's the secret to success.

Comedy isn't highbrow or lowbrow. A laugh is all that matters.

As long as the audience loves me, that's enough.

I don't care about highbrow or lowbrow, or whether you're a conservatory-trained performer or a grassroots talent.

All that matters is performing truly great work.

Once the audience approves,

you're the true “King of Comedy!”
