Shen Yan (also known as Wei Zhen) was the general manager of the imperial kitchen of the Dajing Dynasty and the "ceiling" of the royal kitchen world. He was proficient in Manchu and Han banquets, palace swallow wings, abalone and ginseng. He was also good at making ordinary ingredients into royal flavors. He had an almost demanding pursuit of ingredients, heat and knife skills. After accidentally eating poisonous ingredients while tasting food for the emperor, he opened his eyes and traveled to the modern society of 2024, possessing the body of a down-and-out little chef with the same name who had just been fired from the restaurant.
