When I was twenty-three, I got into the funeral business by running errands and driving, making a living under a feng shui master with a strange temper and endless rules.
He said this line of work wasn't afraid of ghosts. What it feared was “evil hearts, perilous terrain, and karmic debts.”
I thought I was just handling matters for the dead. Later, I discovered that some things weren't “dead” at all. They had been pinned down by people with earth, water, and thresholds.
I've gathered the cases I worked on with my master over the past few years and written down everything I can. The ones I can't write about... let's just say I never encountered them.
