Five Years After Our Divorce, My Ex's Mistress Knelt at the Martyrs' Cemetery and Begged Me to See Him One Last Time

Five years after divorcing Lu Jixing, I ran into his mistress at the martyrs' cemetery. Lin Jingshu placed a bunch of white chrysanthemums in front of my father's gravestone. I kicked the wrapping to shreds. “You shameless woman! You come here to atone in front of the dead? You think you deserve to?” She didn't argue. Uneasily, she tucked a few strands of white hair behind her ear. “You hid from me for five years. Why stop now?” I stared at her faded cuffs and the wrinkles crinkling around her eyes, and let out a satisfied breath. It seemed her five years with Lu Jixing hadn't been all that pleasant either. Lin Jingshu was as gentle and reserved as ever. “Yanning, it's been a long time. Go see Jixing.” The hatred I'd kept buried for five years surged up. I fought the urge to rip her face apart and kicked the offerings she'd brought into disarray. “See what? How you stole a family from me? If you were going to pretend to be dead and keep out of sight, you should've kept it up for the rest of your life. Why show up now just to disgust me?” I raised my foot to trample the spirit money she'd burned for my father, but Lin Jingshu grabbed my sleeve. “Yanning, Jixing... he doesn't have long to live.” Incense ash suddenly swirled up from the gravestone and stung my eyes. In an instant, I changed my mind. My enemy, the one who destroyed my family and made me suffer, was about to die. How could I pass up the chance to see him at his lowest?
