I Was Wrong to Fall in Love with You

This story follows Chunhua, who feels increasingly lonely in her humdrum marriage. After meeting Chen Bin online, she falls into an illusory romance. She abandons her five-year-old twin daughters and elopes. Her husband, Li Jun, is forced to hire a nanny to care for the girls, but the nanny loses control and one of the little girls dies. In the south, Chunhua discovers that her “new life” was nothing but an illusion, while back home an irreversible tragedy has unfolded. When she returns north, faced with her broken family, her husband’s hatred, and the reproach of her own conscience, she spends the rest of her life burdened by the guilt of causing her daughter’s death. This is a cautionary tale of marital betrayal, the struggles of motherhood, and the price of one’s choices.
