Why Is the Heir So Confused Today, Too?

Lin Wan, a modern-day office workaholic, dies at her desk after another all-nighter. When she opens her eyes, she has become Shen Yichuan, the heir to the Marquis of Anyuan's residence in the capital. The once capable female manager is now a handsome young man of eighteen or nineteen. She must not only adapt to an unfamiliar male body and complicated ancient etiquette, but also face one crisis after another: the mystery surrounding a fall from a horse that left her unconscious for two days, her father's cold scrutiny, her mother's anxious unease, the undercurrents between the princes, and even a web of southern-border drug traffickers and treasonous conspiracies at court.

With none of the original owner's memories, she relies on the keen eye for people and quick thinking she developed at work. She pretends to be the heir, learns to ride and fight, and handles clashes at court, all while secretly investigating the fall and navigating the competing powers around her. From secret dealings at an old teahouse in the Western Market to life-and-death trials on the northern frontier, she hides a woman's heart in a man's body and treads carefully through the capital's treacherous political maelstrom. She must unravel layer upon layer of conspiracy and carve out a chance to survive in this strange world.
