"Ingenuity Eclipses Power" is a wise strategy novel set in the troubled times of the Republic of China. The protagonist Jiang Yanyuan is a modern restorer of cultural relics in the Forbidden City. He traveled to Suzhou in 1932 and gradually rose up in a broken era with his superb restoration skills and ingenuity that transcended the times. He not only restored precious cultural relics, but also applied the "restoration philosophy" to industrial salvation, financial games and power struggles. He joined hands with three confidantees, the banker's daughter Shen Zhiwei, the Jianghu antique dealer Bai Yutang, and the warlord's concubine Lu Zhaoning, to fight against comprador groups, Japanese cultural plunderers and conservative forces. The story starts in Suzhou and gradually expands to Shanghai and Nanjing. It runs through real historical events such as the Songhu War of Resistance and the relocation of cultural relics to the south. It depicts how a craftsman went from "repairing utensils" to "repairing the era". It explores cultural sovereignty, industrial rejuvenation of the country, and personal value choices in the historical torrent.
