Starwatcher's Tribulation

An ordinary man gathers herbs and accidentally stumbles upon an immortal’s path. Fleeing through a freezing night, he discovers he is no ordinary man.

Who is his father? He's never met him. His mother left him with only the words “Live well” before she passed away. His half-sister Lin Xiaoyu, born to his stepfather, is the only person he has left in this world. The scripture that reveals a page with each new breakthrough, the secrets his father concealed with his life... They should have belonged to another world entirely.

Then the rogue cultivator “Master of the Golden Light Cave” from Wo Niu Mountain sets his sights on the red fruit he happened to gather. Then Lord Yang from town sends men to scour the mountains for a “medicinal catalyst.” Then strange, man-eating roots emerge from beneath the frozen river. Only then does Lin Xiao understand: from the moment he awakened the inheritance, his ordinary life was shattered for good.

Footprints stumbling through the snow will soon be covered by fresh snowfall. But some paths, once taken, offer no turning back.

This is the story of an ordinary man struggling to survive in the shadow of cultivation, of a boy growing up alone beneath the burden of secrets and bloodlines, and of two siblings with no blood ties whose faint sparks of warmth light the way ahead for one another in a cold world.

“Big brother, will we die on the road?”

“No. I promised Mom I'd keep you alive.”
