A meteor disaster plunges the world into endless night. Shen Que, a former supermarket manager, and Jiang Tu, a survival expert, accidentally become bound to a mysterious “Seed System” in their desperate struggle to survive. Together, they turn a supermarket ruin into an ark for the apocalypse.
Shen Que is a rational planner and skilled manager, while Jiang Tu is untamed and gifted at exploration and defense. Forced to live together, the two opposites go from clashing to complementing each other as they run the apocalypse’s only supply hub: “Ark Supermarket.”
But the apocalypse is far more than a siege by zombies. Mutated monsters, armed gangs, and factions led by other Seed inheritors appear one after another. Gradually, they discover that the disaster is actually a “selection test” run by some higher civilization, and that humanity is merely a “growth medium” for a new ecosystem.
Faced with a terrifying “garden” spreading across the city, scheming factions, and the cruel truth hidden behind the System, Shen Que and Jiang Tu must find a third path: preserve the last spark of human civilization while holding fast to their humanity.
This is the worst of times, and the beginning of rebuilding everything. As reason intertwines with wildness and coldness meets passion, two men and their supermarket will become the only light in the dark apocalypse.
In a nutshell: When the apocalypse comes, we don’t stockpile supplies from the start or awaken special powers from the start. We open a supermarket, trading supplies for humanity and rebuilding civilization through rules.
