The Nine Purple Dragon and Phoenix Chronicle: Ziwei Brings Good Fortune, the Ley Lines Shape the World

Three thousand years ago, the Pillar of Heaven collapsed and Mount Buzhou broke apart. The Ancestral Dragon wept blood, the Primordial Phoenix sealed away the flames, and the immortals shut the Gates of Heaven from within. The spiritual veins of China ran dry, and cultivation became little more than a legend. Three thousand years later, a pillar of purple light connects heaven and earth above Chang’an. The Ancestral Dragon’s reverse scale at Mount Buzhou resonates, and Zifan and Lingyue, bearers of ancient bloodlines, arrive amid the dust.

Zifan wields a mystic compass to read the wind and assess the waters, seeking to mend the shapes of mountains and rivers, and the vital currents in people’s hearts. Lingyue commands the Nine-Purple Li Fire to burn away delusion and preserve the truth, vowing to kindle both the cleansing flame of heaven and the light in mortal hearts. They bring not some lofty salvation, but an awakening in which every ordinary person can take part.

A scholar’s words give rise to the resonance of the Dao; a weaver’s brocade holds the promise of life; a physician’s silver needles open the meridians; and an artisan’s creations gather the soul. Warriors, merchants, farmers, and officials can all realize the Dao through their own work. Cultivation becomes a path of practice in which a hundred trades converge by different routes.

The road ahead is overgrown with thorns. The Demonic Spirit-Eater Sect watches from the shadows, fragments of the Mountain-and-River Seal lie scattered, and the murmurs of extraterrestrial demons never cease. There are also trials within: power turning against its wielder and one’s true nature lost. Each of the nine realms of cultivation demands another step forward. Cultivating both life and nature, and tempering the heart amid the mortal world, are all ways of transcending life and self.

This is no myth of immortals and gods saving the world. It is an epic of ordinary people climbing the steps of cultivation. It does not teach how to become an immortal, only how to become a better person. When the immortal gates open again, Zifan and Lingyue will reveal the heart of the Great Dao: the highest Dao lies amid the bustle of mortal life, and the truest immortals are people of flesh and blood, full of feeling.

The Nine-Purple Li Fire era has begun, and the spiritual veins are slowly awakening. Watch as the Ziwei Star lights the way, the dragon and phoenix bring order to the world, and ordinary people each find their own path and become immortals in their own way.
