Siheyuan: A Down-and-Out Scholar? I’m the Backbone of Industry

He woke up one morning to find himself transmigrated to a courtyard in 1958, as the eldest son of the Yan family, Yan Jiecheng.

Since he'd arrived in an era ablaze with passion, he was going to ride the tide of the times!

Yan Bugui: “Son, could you maybe give me some of your wages...”

Yan Jiecheng: “Based on the Engel coefficient and your input-output ratio over the past four years, you currently owe me 15 yuan and 30 cents.”

Yi Zhonghai: “You must never forget your roots. You have to have a conscience...”

Yan Jiecheng: “Master Yi, the parts you make as a seventh-grade worker have a 0.05 mm margin of error. By my standards, that's scrap.”

Even the Soviet experts exclaimed, “Yan! You are an industrial angel sent by God!”

The petty squabbles in the courtyard? Just noise wasting everyone's life.

With Harbin Institute of Technology behind him and precision manufacturing technology from the future at his fingertips, Yan Jiecheng was ready to make his mark.

He joined the Precision Engineering Department of the First Ministry of Machine-Building from the start, launching his career as an administrative official!

Ordinary technicians: Still grinding parts by feel?

Yan Jiecheng: Introduce laser calibration and boost efficiency by N times!

The advanced techniques Yi Zhonghai was so proud of? Full of flaws when measured against the data!

The Jia family was still scheming over a pound of cornmeal, while Yan Jiecheng had already secured special-issue Maotai and cigarettes from the ministry!

“What I'm going to build is a ten-thousand-ton hydraulic press and a centrifuge for the atomic bomb!”

“In an era when industrial strength decides everything, truth lies only within the range of a cannon, and dignity only within the tolerances of precision!”

While the beasts in the courtyard were still fighting over leftovers, Yan Jiecheng was already standing on the National Day viewing platform, receiving the nation's leaders!

Now that's what you call a master of industry!
