Investigative journalist Shen Mo signs a strange apartment contract of his own accord while pursuing a series of disappearances.
Cozy furnishings, friendly neighbors, thoughtful rules... Everything is too perfect to be real.
Then he sees someone get "swallowed" by a trash can for throwing away the wrong garbage.
Only then does he understand that every rule here is a noose meant to kill.
The elevator mirrors show you how you'll die. A neighbor knocking in the middle of the night may not be human. And saving enough points to escape is itself the biggest lie of all.
As the residents struggle in fear, Shen Mo raises his camera and pen.
He begins investigating the apartment in reverse, analyzing the logical loopholes behind every rule.
"If we're going to play by the rules," Shen Mo says with a smile at the presence in the darkness, "then let's see who makes the better 'rule player'"
