I feel that the author has confused the protagonist. This is a novel written by the author, not a tokusatsu TV series by Shotaro Ishimori.
It's been 16 chapters since the world was reshaped, and we're still fighting hand-to-hand and can't transform yet. Maybe the protagonist is stronger than ordinary people, but isn't it still on the roadside? The author puts the protagonist in the position of a supporting role. Perhaps the protagonist's role is now an important part of promoting the plot, but the protagonist "refers to the most important central character in the story. The entire plot mainly revolves around him/her/them, and the main line of the story is driven by his/her actions, choices and destiny." The protagonist must have the power to change the situation of the war.
