My Mother’s Secret Agreement

In the near future, “memory backup and retrieval” technology has become commonplace. Chen Wei, an executive at a tech company, buys a premium service to protect her mother Zhou Shuping’s increasingly muddled memories. But she accidentally discovers that one of her mother’s key memories has been altered repeatedly, and that it sharply contradicts the facts of Chen Wei’s childhood. As she investigates, she faces obstruction from within the company and threats from mysterious forces, gradually realizing that her mother’s secret is tied to a long-buried past.

With the help of the morally ambiguous AI “Di Ting,” Chen Wei finally uncovers a cruel truth: Zhou Shuping is not her birth mother, but her birth mother’s dearest friend, who sacrificed everything to spend her life fabricating “memories of being her real mother” in order to protect her. Meanwhile, a tech giant is trying to commercialize “customized memories,” threatening the emotional foundations of society. Chen Wei must join forces with her mother and the awakened AI to defend genuine memories and redefine what family and true love mean.
