Bloodlines awaken across the globe, and creatures mutate. Every being from the Classic of Mountains and Seas and world mythology appears, leaving only seven nations on Earth: China, Russia, the United States, Britain, France, Japan, and Germany. Humanity also gains the bloodlines of strange beasts, which can be awakened at the age of eighteen and passed down through inheritance. At the same time, twelve weapons formed from bloodlines come into being. Every creature has a corresponding disaster rating: National, Nation-Destroying, Regional, Region-Destroying, World, or World-Ending. To train people to resist these disasters, the Gapuna Academy is established, though its entrance exams are indescribably grueling. Students are assigned academic ranks: Novice, Beginner, Experimental, Elite, Master, and King. Everyone studies at the academy for only five years, after which they may leave of their own accord. The four peak bloodlines are Kunpeng, Zhulong, Xiangliu, and Fu Zhu. The four secondary peak bloodlines are Jiaoren, Nine-Tailed Fox, Phoenix, and Huodou.
