In Shanghai in 1929, banker Han Chenyi and progressive student Lin Beiyu first formed prejudices due to ideological conflicts. In the flames of the Anti-Japanese War, they experienced the test of life and death in Wuhan, the years in Chongqing, and the relocation of industry, and they moved from antagonism to understanding.
