Emperor Wen of Han was the fourth son of Liu Bang, the founder of the Han Dynasty, and the fifth emperor of the Han Dynasty. His mother was Bo Ji.
After Liu Bang's banquet, Empress Lu took over the power and all the Lu family were canonized as kings. Empress Lu killed all Liu Bang's favored concubines, leaving only Bo Ji. Later, Empress Lu was seriously ill, and her brothers Lu Lu and Lu Chan wanted to kill Bo Ji to avoid future troubles. Empress Lu wanted to test Bo Ji's loyalty and asked Bo Ji to cut off one of her breasts in public. When Hou Lu died, Chen Ping, Zhou Bo and the Liu family princes and kings joined forces to eliminate all Lu and made Liu Heng the emperor. This was Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty in history. After taking the throne, Emperor Wen won over heroes, attacked important ministers, and consolidated imperial power; he suppressed the rebellions of Liu Xingju, Liu Chang, and Liu Bi; and put down the South Vietnam Rebellion. He was frugal by nature, well aware of the joys and sorrows of the people, and pursued the principle of doing nothing, reducing punishments and exempting land rent.
