On October 7, 2019, by chance, I met Du Pengfei in the waiting room of Beijing’s Yongdingmen Long-Distance Bus Station. At the time, he was a team leader at Project Six of the Haidian Branch of Beijing Security Services. Later, through his introduction, I went to Beijing and became an indoor security guard. From then on, my horizons broadened, my knowledge grew, and I made some good friends online!
On November 30, 2020, in preparation for New Year’s Day and Spring Festival 2021, and the launch of the bimonthly Capital Security, Beijing Security Services held a major writing contest for all its employees. I signed up too, and stayed up all night writing a piece of reportage titled My Day. The next day, my team leader submitted it to the Haidian Branch publicity department on my behalf. As soon as it was published, it caught the attention of company leaders, who strongly recommended it. I later received a cash award of 500 yuan from the company. From then on, I became someone the team leader considered a priority to cultivate. I also took on some of the team’s day-to-day tasks, even though my salary didn’t go up by a single cent.
On May 4, 2023, my team leader was going back to his hometown in Heilongjiang to handle his pension insurance. The night before he left, he told me, “The project managers have discussed it and decided that you’ll take charge of the team’s work while I’m away. When I get back, I’ll transfer you to the branch bank’s security department as an assistant director. The working environment and benefits there are much better than at our company!” “Sure!” I readily agreed. The next day, he called to ask if he could borrow some money, and I lent it to him. But after he came back, he never mentioned transferring me or paying me back!
The writing is very true and the writing style is good.
