Nine Heavens Dragon Lord
Prologue: Thunder Splits the Sky
Blue Star, Dragon Kingdom, deep in the Kunlun Mountains.
The underground laboratory of the Thunder Research Institute was so brightly lit by fluorescent lamps that it was hard to keep one's eyes open. Hundreds of precision instruments hummed, while dense streams of data flickered across the screens.
On the central platform, Lin Chen, clad in a black combat suit, stared intently at the "Nine Heavens Thunder Core" floating before him. This primordial thunder-source crystal had been extracted from a depth of ten thousand meters in the Earth's crust after thirty years of painstaking effort by the Dragon Kingdom. It held enough terrifying energy to tear space apart.
As the institute's youngest chief researcher, Lin Chen was the only person capable of controlling the Thunder Core safely. Pale violet arcs of electricity coiled around his fingertips, and the churning vortex of thunder within the core was reflected in his deep eyes.
"Dr. Lin, the energy charge is complete. We're ready to begin the space-jump experiment!" His assistant's voice came through the radio, trembling slightly.
This was humanity's first attempt to use primordial energy for spatial travel. If successful, it would transform the course of civilization.
Lin Chen took a deep breath, put on a pair of specially made insulated gloves, and slowly reached out to touch the Nine Heavens Thunder Core.
"Hummm, "
The core let out a deafening hum. Pale violet arcs of electricity shot up Lin Chen's arm like swimming dragons. He could clearly feel an extremely violent energy surging wildly through his veins.
