Shen Yan, the illegitimate “daughter” of the Minister of Works’ residence, is actually a man. Treated as a pawn since childhood, he was promised in marriage to Prince Jing, Xiao Jue. On the eve of the wedding, he burned away his shackles in a blazing fire, snapped his hairpin, and fled the marriage without hesitation on a stormy night.
During his escape, Shen Yan was dressed as a woman when he came across a merchant caravan being robbed by bandits. Acting on instinct, he stepped in to help. His nimble skills caught the eye of the remarkably poised “Young Master Zhao” among the merchants. To evade the pursuers sent by his family, he had no choice but to accept their invitation to travel together. He had no idea that this gentle, jade-like Young Master Zhao was none other than Xiao Jue, Prince Jing, the very man he was fleeing from.
Their journey was full of twists and turns, and beneath layer upon layer of disguises, the two developed a remarkable bond of mutual understanding and respect. When they reached the prefectural city, the pursuers suddenly appeared. To keep Xiao Jue from being dragged into his troubles, Shen Yan willingly revealed himself and surrendered. In the carriage taking him back to the capital, his heart was ashen with despair. But he never expected that the groom waiting for him would be the very “Young Master Zhao” who had shown him so much warmth along the way.
A disguised encounter born of a flight from marriage, a fated entanglement between people with mistaken identities: once the truth comes to light, where can they go from here?
The overall story is good, one link after another, Mission: Impossible, letters one after another, jade pendants one piece after another 😂, the ending is really hard to guess, because the relationship is too complicated, I can only say that the circle is too chaotic, and the love line only has some signs of development at the end. The disadvantage is that there are some repetitions in small places and a bit messy, but there is no big problem.
The plot is compact, suspenseful and fascinating.
