“Xu Qingwu, your name means protection; Jiang Chiye, your name means faith.”
“Reunion showdown” At a charity auction, Xu Qingwu bids against Shen Jinyuan for a crucial piece of evidence. Jiang Chiye lazily raises his paddle and names an astronomical price: “No one gets to take what my wife wants.” The room falls silent. They have never announced that they are married.
“Trust between life and death” Xu Qingwu's identity is exposed, and Shen Jinyuan traps her aboard a cruise ship. Jiang Chiye goes alone to meet him and hands her a gun. “Five years ago, I couldn't protect you. Now, either we leave together, or you point the gun at me.” Watching through the surveillance cameras, Shen Jinyuan laughs manically. “What a devoted couple!”
“The final choice” As the countdown to the explosion ticks away, Shen Jinyuan pushes Xu Qingwu toward the emergency exit, his gaze bewitching. “Xiao Wu, in our next life, I'll make sure I meet you before Jiang Chiye does.” Humming the only song she ever taught him, he disappears into the flames.
