Journey to the West: Taking the Blame Makes Me Stronger, So Why Fetch the Scriptures?

[Invincible power fantasy + hilarious Journey to the West + subverted tropes + devious schemer]

I’d barely transmigrated into Sun Wukong and hadn’t even left Five Elements Mountain when Taishang Laojun showed up at my door. “Monkey, take the blame for my stolen pills, and you can eat as many elixirs from the Tusita Palace as you like!”

Ding! [Three Realms’ Number One Scapegoat System activated]. Take the blame and earn rewards!

Others make the pilgrimage for merit. I get stronger by taking the blame! Go on a pilgrimage? What pilgrimage?

Zhu Bajie: “Brother Monkey, about the time I hit on Chang’e…”

Me: “I did it! System, reward me with the [Chaos Demon Ape bloodline]!”

Tang Sanzang: “Wukong, your master accidentally stepped on an ant yesterday…”

Me: “I stepped on it! System, reward me with [Pangu’s Sky-Opening Axe]!”

From then on, Sun Wukong became the Three Realms’ biggest villain on the journey west, and its most powerful being!

Years later, the Tathagata saw Sun Wukong holding a God-Slaying Spear and standing atop a twelve-petal black lotus. He was so terrified he froze on the spot. “I told you to take the blame, not to carry off the entire Spirit Mountain!”
