A spooked horse sends Shen Zhao, a fierce young woman from a military family, crashing into the luxurious carriage of Lu Ziyan, the capital's most delicate beauty. The mud ruins his priceless robe, but an imperial decree binds their lives together.
From then on, she keeps him in line with her fists while he complains about being treated too roughly; she defeats enemies on the battlefield while he fights scams and schemes at home. Then an assassin's blade comes down, and he steps in front of her, setting off the most extravagant fireworks to light up the entire sky.
It turns out the sweetest kind of devotion is when a delicate beauty grows armor for you, and a fierce girl surrenders to only one person.
