Steel Sky: The Machine God Lives Forever

The protagonist was once a top mecha engineer and a genius at strategy games in the interstellar age. After his soul travels to a cultivation world, he discovers that he is a good-for-nothing who cannot cultivate. When the sect competition cripples the only scrap of cultivation he has, he uses a crude energy bracer of his own design to shatter the spirit-testing stone and declares, "Heaven is unjust, so I shall be Heaven," before being cast out of the sect. Later, he says, "I'm growing stronger and stronger, but also less and less human. When I can think ten thousand times faster than an ordinary person, will my emotions fade away? When I can destroy stars with a wave of my hand, how should I regard the mortal I once loved?" What choice will he make?
