A Zhu, a young man from Qinglan Valley, lives a quiet life in a mist-shrouded sanctuary. That is, until he finds Shen Hanzhou, a man in black, unconscious at the edge of the Misty Forest with a fatal arrow wound.
A sudden assassination attempt sweeps two strangers into a whirlpool of fate. To save Shen Hanzhou, A Zhu ventures into the forbidden Misty Forest, shattering his peaceful life. He is struck by an arrow himself, then falls into a swamp with Shen Hanzhou while fleeing, and nearly loses his life.
When A Zhu wakes, he realizes Shen Hanzhou is no ordinary man. The strange arrow lodged in his chest, glowing with purple light; the “Cult Leader” mentioned by their pursuers; and the extraordinary power Shen Hanzhou occasionally reveals all point to a fantastical world A Zhu has never known. Shen Hanzhou's gaze, once wary and cold, also begins to carry a complicated attachment.
When the mists of Qinglan Valley can no longer hide its secrets, and greater forces come following their trail, A Zhu has no choice but to leave his peaceful home and set off into the unknown with Shen Hanzhou. He must uncover Shen Hanzhou's identity and the truth behind the assassination. More than that, in a fantastical martial world where human lives are worth no more than blades of grass, he must hold on to the purity and kindness he learned in the mountains.
The mists are thick and the road ahead treacherous. Two people whose fates are entangled will uncover a world-shaking secret hidden beneath the haze amid flashing blades and encounters in secret realms. Through saving and changing one another, they will write a legend of bonds and steadfast devotion.
