The novel continues the plot of the previous work, with Wu Zetian's dictatorship in the Tang Dynasty as the background, and the narrative revolves around the Fairy Baihua being demoted to the mortal world and the ups and downs of the fate of many talented women.
In the story, talented women such as Huang Ruizhen and Lu Aijuan went through imperial examinations, marriages, and changes in their family and country, while characters such as Song Su and Wen Song traveled between the fairy world and the world of mortals, assisting the new king and supporting the Tang Dynasty.
While inheriting the fantasy style and female perspective of "Flower in the Mirror", the work further expands the characters' fate and historical allegory, explores the complex relationship between power, morality and personal choice, and demonstrates the talent and imagination of Qing Dynasty literati novels.
