During the Zhizheng period of the Dayong Dynasty, Shen Yan, the young owner of the Jubao Pavilion pawnshop in the capital, was smart and capable, and was good at identifying antiques, calligraphy and paintings. Once, a jade pendant with a royal seal was pawned in a pawn shop, which led to a palace theft case. Shen Yan was involved and launched an investigation to prove his innocence. In the process, they met Su Jin, the young minister of Dali Temple who was in charge of the case. The two started with pieces of pawn items in the pawn shop and discovered that there was official corruption behind the theft case, and finally successfully solved the case.
