Powerful-family romance + a groveling ex chasing his wife + melodrama + broken lovers reunite + a touch of everyone’s darling + bittersweet angst + both are each other’s first and only, happy ending
[Brooding, possessive tycoon gong VS stubborn, proud movie-star shou]
Xie Shi Yan, head of the powerful Xie family in Beijing, hated Jiang Shu Yan more than anyone in the world. He hated how, in their youth, Jiang Shu Yan had burst into his passionate adolescence, bright as the sun, only to walk away with a casual “I’m bored” just when their love was at its fiercest, leaving him trapped alone in their memories.
Three years later, Jiang Shu Yan had risen to the top and become a celebrated actor. At the celebration banquet, he wore a custom-tailored suit and smiled with eyes curved like crescents, but when he turned away, he clutched his stomach and swallowed his cold sweat. Then his gaze collided with Xie Shi Yan’s. A marriage-alliance partner stood beside the man, whose icy stare at Jiang Shu Yan was cold enough to draw blood.
No one knew that Jiang Shu Yan had paid with half his life for those words of breakup. The old master of the Xie family’s warning still rang in his ears: “Two men, ending the Xie family line. Can you bear the responsibility?” Clutching a bloodstained razor blade and staring at the hideous scars on his wrist, he could only drive away the boy he loved to the bone with the most hurtful words.
Later, someone set him up, and he fled in panic after one reckless night. Later still, when scandals hounded him and he had nowhere left to turn, Xie Shi Yan tossed him a contract to become his kept lover, his voice vicious: “Sign it, and I’ll protect you.”
Life in the villa was a tangle of cold violence and possessiveness. He never took off the ribbon around his wrist. It hid the scar he couldn’t show anyone, and the past he couldn’t bear to touch.
Only when the truth came to light did Xie Shi Yan learn that his Shu Yan had once been so depressed he tried to take his own life, and had endured countless blows while struggling to make his way in the entertainment industry.
Love that comes too late is worthless, but Xie Shi Yan was determined to kneel and piece together, bit by bit, the heart he had crushed.
“Shu Yan, I was wrong.”
“It’s too late.”
Chapters 17 and 18 have been explained by the author without commenting. I feel that the author has just rounded it up when he found a problem in the writing. Except for this problem, the chapter I have seen so far is still good and the writing is very good. I hope the author can correct this problem otherwise the score will be low. Finally, I wish the author's writing will get better and better. If he writes a new book in the future, the score will be higher 💕
It would be better if I could make up for those two. It's so annoying to miss them so late at night, but I like this type of writing. It's beautiful.
