The down-on-his-luck scholar Fan Jin repeatedly fails the imperial examinations, enduring scorn and humiliation. Even the policy essays he has poured his heart into are falsely accused of plagiarism.
Shen Yan transmigrates unexpectedly with a comeback System. Recognizing Fan Jin’s hidden talent at a glance, he pulls him out of the mire with a bowl of hot porridge and a long gown.
At a literary gathering, Fan Jin recites from memory to refute the rumors, every word brilliant enough to astound the crowd. Master Li makes a resounding gesture by gifting him a shop, and the talented scholar from a humble family finally reveals his brilliance.
The local thug Wang Er keeps tripping them up, but Shen Yan turns his tricks against him and gives him a thorough face-slapping. The System unlocks predictions of exam topics, and the road to the provincial examination shines with every step.
Watch a pair of underdogs defy fate and change their lives: a poor scholar passes the imperial examination overnight, and a man fallen on hard times makes a comeback against all odds!
