Rules of the Cangsheng Alliance: Five Things We Never Steal, Five Things We Always Steal, Five Things We Always Investigate, and Three Things We Must Do
Dynasty: Great Han
Emperor: Emperor Xian of Han
First Year of Jian'an (196 AD)
The remnants of the Yellow Turbans roamed the provinces, robbing the people and digging up royal tombs. Plague ravaged the Central Plains. Bones lay scattered across the land, and not a chicken crowed for a thousand miles. Refugees chewed tree bark and ate grass roots, and cases of parents trading children for food were all too common.
At Pangu's Ruined Tomb (a mythic tomb), they took a fragment of Pangu's Axe to break the plague in Xuchang. At Dong Zhuo's Tomb (the tomb of a tyrant and traitorous minister), they took gold and silver to provide relief to refugees. They chose not to rob Guan Yu's cenotaph (the tomb of a loyal and righteous hero), and instead repaired it.
The remnants of the Yellow Turbans joined forces with Dong Zhuo's former followers, hoping to seize the fragment of Pangu's Axe and resurrect Dong Zhuo. The Cangsheng Alliance matched wits with them, ultimately foiling the plot, saving the refugees, and securing its footing amid the chaos of the Three Kingdoms.
1. The oath-taking ceremony: A hundred thousand members gathered at an ancient Yellow River ferry crossing to take their oath. Gun Gun went and nibbled the Alliance Leader's waistband, sending the crowd into laughter. The leader, scowling, chased after him, and the tense atmosphere turned comical in an instant.
2. Exploring Pangu's Ruined Tomb: They encountered the ancient ferocious beast Hundun. The Ma Alliance Leader activated the third level of the Art of Protecting the People Through Mountains and Rivers, forming the Mountains and Rivers State Guardian Formation to trap and kill Hundun. His waistband snapped again, exposing his red underwear. Ling Jiuxiao teased him: “The Alliance Leader's waistband is the bane of every tomb mechanism.”
At Dong Zhuo's Tomb, they encountered an army of blood corpses. Ling Jiuxiao's Zhurong Fire Talisman went astray and burned Jiang Zhanji's hair. Sporting a blown-out afro, Jiang Zhanji cursed under his breath and smacked flying blood corpses on the head with a Luoyang shovel.
At Guan Yu's cenotaph, the members saw the words “Loyalty and righteousness endure through the ages” carved into the tombstone. The Ma Alliance Leader ordered a retreat. Ling Jiuxiao had just pulled out a talisman to break the formation when Mu Banxia slapped it right back into his hand and scolded him: “You old lecher! How dare you rob the tomb of a loyal and righteous hero?”
A very interesting tomb robbing novel. I hope the follow-up will be more exciting.
