Beneath the Spirit Root

Is one's immortal path determined by their spiritual roots? He refuses to believe in fate.

As a ninth-rank Wind Patrol Envoy, Lu Chen is one of the lowest-ranking “civil servants” in the immortal realm, yet he wields a dangerous weapon: modern statistics and game theory. From calculating spiritual miasma and outsmarting corrupt officials to venturing deep into the Directorate to expose a conspiracy to falsify spiritual roots, he uses his mastery of rules and data to pry open cracks in the rigid hierarchy of immortals, again and again.

But when his algorithm-driven reforms shake the web of vested interests, he faces more than open attacks and hidden daggers. Before the court, he must also confront the ancient order in a clash of ideals. Should the immortal path be reserved for the gifted, or should it leave a door open for all to rise?

This is a war without flashing blades. Beneath the judgment of spiritual roots, he uses the wisdom of an ordinary man to kindle the fire of defying fate in countless souls who have long lain in wait.
